Lorenzo Dalla Porta, second in Assen

The Leopard Racing said goodbye to Assen after having achieved the second step of the podium with Lorenzo Dalla Porta and a seventh position of Marcos Ramirez.

It’s been one of the most constant weekends of this season and the team has added the finishing touch with the second position of Italian rider Lorenzo Dalla Porta and the seventh of Marcos Ramirez. None of them did a perfect start as both Leopard riders lost many positions at the first stages of the race. However, if there’s something unquestionable is that Moto3 can always surprise you.
Setting his pace along the 22 laps, Lorenzo started to recover some spots as the laps went by. The #48 was always swinging into the first seven places fighting with rivals, being determined and aggressive when needed and clever when required. That gave him the possibility of placing himself in front of the first group of riders 10 laps to the end. Despite he managed the situation and tried it, Tony Arbolino stuck to Dalla Porta at the very last moments and overtook him just before the line by 0.045 seconds.

On the other side of the box, Spaniard Marcos Ramirez, who had been strong throughout the weekend and felt good overall, after a tricky start did one of the things he does best this season: appeared and pushed harder at the last stages of the race. The Leopard rider could have gotten the podium if it weren’t for a contact with another rider. At the end, he crossed the line the seventh gathering this way important points for the standings.

After the Dutch Grand Prix, Leopard Racing keeps the first place on the team’s standings with 43 points of advantage, Lorenzo Dalla Porta reinforces the second position (100 points) but now he’s just 7 points far from Canet, and Marcos Ramirez (58 points) has risen to the seventh spot.

Stay tuned because the ninth round of the season is scheduled for the upcoming weekend in Germany. See you all at the Sachsenring the 7th of July!

Lorenzo Dalla Porta, 2nd in Assen

“I believe the victory is close. It’s been a difficult race but I have to be happy because we’ve done a very good one, we’ve gotten another podium and we have to keep working like this. At the beginning of the race my bike did a wheelie, I lost many positions and at that point I thought I was going to have a difficult day. But then I felt better, I was able to recover some spots while fighting with my rivals and I knew I could be in front. When I did it, I tried to push but in this track wind is very important and so is slipstream. Arbolino has beaten me practically on the line and I couldn’t win this time, but I believe victory will arrive soon and I’m pleased with the work we’ve done. The important thing is we’ve reduced the distance with Canet on the standings and we’ll try again in Sachsenring, in a few days. Many thanks to the team, they’ve done an incredible job”.

Marcos Ramirez, 7th in Assen

“I’ve felt very strong this weekend and somehow the race didn’t go the way we expected after those good feelings the previous days. It’s been an slow race with many moments and contacts and on my own I struggled when trying to overtake other riders. At the end I could have jumped into the podium but after a contact with a rival I’ve finished the seventh. The positive thing is that I’ve gained another position on the general standings and this is always good. Now we’ll get to Sachsenring, which is a circuit that I like a lot, I hope to do a good job there. Let’s see how everything goes”.
